As a recording and playback artist, Shakthisree Gopalan has been recording songs for Original Sound Tracks to Indian Films, since 2008, and has worked with some of the most notable composers in the Indian Film Music Industry including - A.R. Rahman, Anirudh Ravichander, Harris Jeyaraj, Santosh Narayanan, Sean Roldan, M Jayachandran, G.V. Prakash to name a few, recording songs in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
Shakthi received her big break with the Tamil chartbuster “Nenjukulle” Composed by the Oscar and Grammy winning legendary composer A.R. Rahman for the Mani Ratnam Film ‘Kadal’. The Premier of the song on MTV Unplugged Season 2 went on to become a viral sensation, and also won Shakthi her first Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer that same year. Since then Shakthi has also been honoured with several prestigious awards including the SIIMA Award, Vijay Award, Radio Mirchi Music Awards, Femina Pen Shakthi Awards, Pride of Tamil Nadu Award, and Vikatan Award to name a few.
